Airlie lagoonThe Whitsundays are made up of 74 tropical islands rising from warm turquoise waters, an abundance of incredible marine and wildlife and a vibrant coastline full of excitement. The stunning islands, most of them in pristine National Parks, offer empty white-sand beaches, stunning views and sheltered tropical rich blue waters. The islands are bordered by the majestic mountains of the Conway National Park on one side, the famous Great Barrier Reef on the other and surrounded by the calm waters of the Coral Sea. The Whitsundays offer some of the most sheltered waterways in the world, making it the perfect cruising or sailing destination.

The climate is typical of a tropical sub rainforest region - comparable to Fiji, Tahiti and the Bahamas. There is never a bad time to visit the Whitsundays. With an average annual temperature of 27ºC and an estimated average of 8.25 sunshine hours per day, an incredible year-round climate is guaranteed. Generally January is the warmest month and July the coolest, with daytime temperatures seldom below 20°C during the day in winter. The weather is such that you can swim year round, with waters in this tropical paradise at a welcome 23 to 29 degrees throughout the year.

With beautiful turquoise waters, sheltered bays, sandy beaches, coral reefs, beautiful year-round tropical weather and spectacular scenery, the Whitsundays ensures an incredible holiday experience.

 

The Islands

Whitsunday IslandsOur Awesome packages get you in amongst and onto the islands. The islands we take you to are all part of the Whitsunday Islands National Park. The waters of the Coral Sea surrounding them are part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, a World Heritage Area. Long Island and South Molle Island National Parks have some of the most extensive and developed walking tracks. Spend a couple of days exploring these fantastic islands and stunning views will reward you. You can also visit the amazing Daydream Island Resort and Spa where you can enjoy a range of fantastic activities.

 

Whitehaven Beach

Stretching over nine kilometres this pristine expanse of pure white silica sand, fringed by brilliant blue water and lush tropical island is one of the jewels of the Whitsundays. Recognised as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, no visit to the Whitsundays is complete without a trip to Whitehaven Beach. A 'Camira Sailing Adventure' ensures an unforgettable visit to this spectacular and famous location while experiencing high-speed sailing through the spectacular islands.

Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier ReefThe Great Barrier Reef is a World Heritage site and is the largest reef in the world, stretching some 2,300kms along the coast of Queensland. It is truly one of the great wonders of the natural world and a 'must-see' for anyone visiting the region. Knuckle Reef Lagoon where our pontoon is situated is acclaimed as one of the most pristine sites with an abundance of coral and fish life. Airlie Beach

Lying at the heart of the Whitsundays, vibrant Airlie Beach is a backpacking mecca, party town and the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.

Airlie Beach is located about 1,100 km north of Brisbane and about 700 km south of Cairns and is the major accommodation and eating destination for travellers planning to take trips out to the stunning Islands. A colourful and inviting resort town lying on the shores of a palm fringed beach and overlooking the calm waters of Pioneer Bay, Airlie beach provides many of the essential services for travellers to the area. The centre of the Airlie Beach township is a myriad of shops, eating places ranging from fast foods to quality restaurants, accommodation options, pubs and bars and cosmopolitan nightlife with many clubs providing entertainment well in to the small hours... Airlie Beach provides an always lively scene with all the other international travellers in town.

By day there are lots of shops and boutiques for some retail therapy, open seven days a week. And every Saturday the foreshore parkland hosts a market with stalls selling fresh fruit and veggies, local arts and crafts and more. Located only a few metres from the beach the shopping centre has a holiday feel and the whole township, a distinctly tropical flavour.

Airlie Beach Lagoon in the centre of town is a welcome oasis. An amazing foreshore parkland surrounding a series of inter-linked lagoon pools, it is the perfect place to chill, cool off and relax with a swim...
